The M6 going south in Cheshire between Junction 20 and Junction 19 has reopened after a serious accident closed it down for more than 24 hours.
The collision, in which two trucks, a Ford Transit and a silver Mercedes, were involved, occurred on Friday (August 13) around 3:30 a.m.
According to Cheshire Police, the driver of the Mercedes, a 56-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the delivery truck and a driver of a truck were slightly injured in the collision.
The crash caused damage to the central barrier as well as a large diesel leak that made it necessary to renew the roadway.
Highways England confirmed shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday (August 14) that the road had been cleared again.
