Mark Parsons is currently undergoing a charity challenge
An assistant principal at Cheshire College has started a charity cycle.
His goal is to complete Land’s End to John O’Groats and back in 18 days while raising critical funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS Society).
Mark Parsons set off on the 1,900 mile bike ride on Friday July 16 with the goal of completing the entire route in 18 days while raising £ 6,000 for the MS Society.
Mark said, “The average time it takes to go from Land’s End to John O’Groats is 14 days and I’m trying to get there and back in just 18 days.
“I know this ride will test me physically and mentally on all levels, but it doesn’t compare to what people with multiple sclerosis and their loved ones have to endure day in and day out.
“I’ve been training for this day for over a year now, gradually increasing the length and incline every time I get on the bike and I can’t believe it’s here now.
“The support I’ve received over the past 12 months from companies donating food, drinks, clothing and equipment to me has been overwhelming, not to mention the support from Cheshire College staff and students.”
Students on Cheshire College’s three campuses in Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Chester, Cheshire all supported Mark’s efforts by running a series of fundraisers to help him meet his £ 6,000 goal.
Each academic year, Cheshire College participates in a variety of events to support charities they are passionate about and who help some of the most vulnerable in society.
