Habiba Chowdhury.
Cheshire, a Northwich woman, was named one of the UK’s 100 Most Inspirational Women Entrepreneurs.
Habiba Chowdhury was recognized by the British campaign f: Entrepreneur # ialso100 by Small Business.
Habiba, who opened Habiba’s School of Spice, formerly known as My Curry Club and the only Bangladeshi cooking school in the UK in 2019, will be featured alongside 100 women entrepreneurs from across the UK as part of the campaign’s recognition of the diverse accomplishments of Women Who Are proved critical to society during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now in its fourth year, f: Entrepreneur was launched in 2017 to highlight amazing female role models who help and inspire all small businesses through content, stories and events. In particular, it aims to showcase pioneering women entrepreneurs who run small businesses alongside a range of other responsibilities. Habiba was also called out for her determination to adapt to the current COVID-19 situation.
Failing to open school to teach for a third ban, she founded Habibas Curry Night, a food service that delivers some of her unique curries to the surrounding areas of Cheshire and is proving to be incredibly popular and successful. So despite being banned, she was able to hire four strong women who are knowledgeable in their own fields to expand and complement their growth
own skills as a cook and cooking teacher.
In 2020, Habiba received another industry award by winning the Small Awards 2020 in the Sole to Sole category. She has also built a successful partnership with the internationally renowned company Global Knives and plans further partnerships as the business expands.
This year’s campaign, from beekeepers to PPE, tech entrepreneurs to specialist cookery schools, celebrates inspiring and resilient women entrepreneurs who have thrived despite Covid-19 and many of whom are still growing or starting new businesses.
When Habiba was inducted into # ialso100, he said: “I am thrilled to have been recognized and listed as one of the top 100 women business leaders in the UK. To be on a list among other inspiring women confirms that I have made the right decisions with my business. I did research on helping business women in the UK when my business was still in its infancy and being seen as an inspiring business woman was one of my hopes and a major goal for my cooking school. Thank you Michelle Ovens for seeing the full potential in me as the Habibas School of Spice. “
