Bethany Scott is studying GCSE mathematics
Submitted by Cheshire College
Cheshire College has introduced a range of new part-time courses for adults to develop, retrain and future-proof their careers in a range of industries.
Courses are designed to be relevant in the workplace and aim to update learners’ knowledge and skills.
The part-time courses include business, construction, engineering, IT, fitness, health and beauty.
Learners can enroll in a course that suits them, that suits their lifestyle, including face-to-face, distance learning, or a mix of both.
Bethany Scott, GCSE Mathematician, said: “I got my English and other grades I needed when I left school and was struggling with math, but I didn’t think I’d need them in the future. I did a hospitality and catering course before college but didn’t complete the course and am now a full-time mom.
“I am now doing my maths GCSE again as I need a better grade than I already have to get into an Access course to study midwifery.
“The math high school is a year-round course and I’m really enjoying studying it for the second time. Studying was a little daunting at first and I didn’t know what it would be like to be back in the classroom.
“The tutor was very hospitable and I made some great friends. I understand math much better now than when I was in school as the tutor explains everything clearly and takes time to help everyone in the class.
“I feel that studying part-time suits me better and anyone with no academic leanings could do the program because of the way it is taught.
“I’m positive about the future and didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I do now. I am excited and motivated to come to the class every week knowing it will give my son and I a brighter future.”
James Eagney, Assistant Principal – Quality, Foundation English & Maths, said: “We are very excited about the part-time courses we are offering at Cheshire College this year. The ongoing courses offer adult learners a real opportunity to advance their skills and achieve their educational and professional goals.
“Whether you are looking to further your education or want to change careers and retrain, we have a range of courses that have been carefully selected to meet needs across Cheshire and to give adults in our local communities the best possible opportunities for career success .”
