The Cheshire East Council’s Swab Squad is running a new rapid test service across the county.
The “Swab Squad” is a team that aims to support residents and local businesses with Covid-19 tests.
This month, a new mobile pop-up service is being launched in various supermarkets in Crewe and Nantwich, offering a walk-in pick-up service for quick, symptom-free home test kits.
The team is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer any residents’ questions about the kits before they are brought home.
Dr. Matt Tyrer, Director of Public Health for Cheshire East Council, said, “This is the latest in a series of studies we are conducting to improve access to these rapid tests and to ensure that we are focusing our resources on locations that suit Residents best.
“We recognize that home testing is a critical part of our wider testing program.
“We believe that home testing is a convenient and easily accessible solution for many, while our assisted service at our test sites provides a simple and streamlined process and provides high quality results for reporting and monitoring purposes.
“Our swab team will be on site at the mobile units and provide advice and information on our testing program, including: where to get a test, how the tests are done, how often and what to do next in the event of a positive result.
“If the pilot is successful, we will try to improve the service so that we can test on site, look for new locations and increase the number of mobile vans.”
