Covid-19: Police urge Cheshire residents to obey the rules over the Easter holidays

Police are urging residents across Cheshire to abide by the rules ahead of the Easter holiday weekend after coronavirus restrictions were last eased.

As of March 29, people across England have been able to socialize outdoors while following the rule of six or meeting with another household – even in private gardens.

As part of the changes, the public can now also participate in organized outdoor sports and enjoy outdoor sports and recreational facilities.

The new rules also allow all outdoor activities for children in addition to outdoor parent and children’s groups for up to 15 people.

As we approach a long bank holiday weekend, the Cheshire Constabulary urges the public to celebrate safely and to remember that while the number of coronavirus cases is decreasing, it is still a threat.

Deputy Police Chief Jenny Sims said, “While it’s great to see restrictions easing across the country, we can’t get complacent.

“We are still at a very high threat from the coronavirus and we must adhere to the rules and guidelines in place to continue to see a decline in the number of cases.

“This includes wearing face covering and social distancing when with people outside of your household.

“Last year I knew that many families couldn’t celebrate Easter the way they would like, and this was one of the many sacrifices we all had to make to get to that point.

“No doubt this year will still be different, but the relaxation of the rules offers a glimmer of hope that families can get together as long as you follow the rule of six or hang out with another household outdoors.

“Unfortunately, the fact remains that you cannot meet family and friends indoors as it is currently considered too risky. We have to adhere to the applicable rules and in doing so we can stick to the national roadmap that leads us out of these restrictions. ”

As part of the recent relaxation of regulations, the government has removed the need to “stay at home”. However, it is recommended to further minimize travel costs if necessary.

Officials will be communicating with the public on the Cheshire grounds to ensure everyone is safe this Easter break.

ACC Sims added, “We expect many people to flock to the county’s beauty spots during the bank holiday.

“While we welcome visitors, we urge you to consider whether your travel is necessary and whether you can do so closer to home.

“When you visit one of our websites, please follow the applicable instructions in order to protect you and others and to respect the landscape code.”
