Elliott Browne trains Cheshire Gymnastics on Zoom

GYMNASTS had the unique opportunity to train with a world champion during the entire lockdown, writes Jack Heale.

Young athletes at Cheshire Gymnastics were in online sessions from home with Elliott Browne, 23, who won a team gold and a silver medal at the 2019 and 2018 World Championships.

Browne has paid great compliments to the work of the Moss Farm Performance Center-based club.

He said: “This is the only club where I have to constantly revise my plans to keep up with their improvement.

“I would definitely pick some of these gymnasts to be on my own roster. They work very hard and love to exercise! ”

Cheshire Gymnastics, home to regional and British champions, has given beginners and competitors alike access to online zoom sessions with Browne, many of whom have talent too.

The commissioning of Browne’s services was seen as an important step in keeping excitement and motivation high during the third and toughest lockdown of the coronavirus pandemic.

The club practiced practically six days a week with more than 100 gymnasts and family members a day.

The mental health of the members was prioritized so many new classes and sessions were offered in a variety of age groups.

Cheshire Gymnastics has classes for preschoolers and adults. Activities range from family fun, ballet, flexibility and strength and fitness sessions with outside specialists to working with other clubs across the UK.

“The commitment from our gymnasts has been incredible and the entire Cheshire Gymnastics team has worked really hard to keep our gymnasts and their families fit,” said head coach Mark Hudson.

“This virtual way of working was also used as an effective platform for trainer training and we learned so much from each other and from our special guests. It was important to us to keep the club afloat and to keep the entire team on board. ”

Turner were also encouraged to share their ambitions by participating in the Dream Board Art Project, to which more than 50 Dream Boards were submitted.

The club looks forward to reopening its doors in line with the Step Forward Plan of its national governing body at Moss Farm.
