A 19-year-old woman was charged with a series of sexual assaults on women on footpaths in Manchester and Cheshire.
Joshua Etchells of Lowton Road in Sale was charged with twelve sexual assault charges he touched between March 1st and 7th, Greater Manchester Police said.
In each of the Sale, Altrincham, Timperley, Stretford, Old Trafford, and Lymm incidents, a man approached the victim on a mountain bike from behind and inappropriately touched the victim as he drove past.
Police said the charges were the result of Operation Carbon – a special operation that was carried out between Monday March 1st and Sunday March 7th following a series of reports of sexual assault.
The attacks mainly focused on canal and river trails and the Trans Pennine Trail Trail – a long-distance route through the Pennines used by hikers, cyclists and horse riders.

Etchells will appear in Magistrates Court in Manchester and Salford on Monday (March 15th).
He has been taken into custody, Greater Manchester police said.

A 28-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of sexual assault has since been released without further action.
Greater Manchester Police worked with Cheshire Police to investigate the attacks. While no one was injured, the victims were in distress from the incidents.
