A Cheshire pub that had to close before Christmas made an amazing gesture.

The White Lion Hotel in Weston, Crewe announced it would be temporarily closing its doors on December 23 after being notified of Covid cases.

The pub said it was doing a thorough cleaning of the premises to protect staff and customers, and later announced it would remain closed until December 30th.

Chance Changing Lives to help fight homelessness with hope, help and a hot meal. Their kitchens help provide food every Saturday and this year they celebrated Christmas Day and were open to all adults in need.

A spokesman for The White Lion said, “The White Lion Weston is proud to donate to this amazing charity to help fight homelessness and poverty this Christmas.

“They offer an opportunity for change and support the local community.

“We believe everyone deserves a warm meal on Christmas Day.

“We knew that when we closed over Christmas time because of the pandemic, we wanted to give back to the community and those who really need it.”

The White Lion will reopen its doors on December 30th from 12 noon, with the government recently confirmed that it had no plans to introduce Covid restrictions before 2022.
