Hikers are encouraged to use their daily exercises to raise money for the deaf and / or blind in Cheshire through a charity challenge.
The annual Step Up Challenge of the DSN (Sensory Loss Charity) has started. Participants have pledged to walk 10,000 steps a day to raise funds to help people in the area.
Erica Jones, Fundraiser, said, “We started the campaign in November and were delighted. Check out the efforts of participants tracking their steps in factories, in the office, and even on the streets outside of their homes! We were so impressed with the amount of effort and dedication people went into to rise to the challenge that we thought it would be a great focus for the people in Lockdown 3.0! “
DSN is now inviting people to take part in the Step Up Challenge anytime – whether for a new health kick or as part of a path to improving mental health and wellbeing during the pandemic.
The four-week fundraiser encourages participants to email the results of their hikes to Erica on a weekly basis and to raise money and attention through their social media and networks throughout the challenge – all for just a minimum entry fee of £ 10 with option on Fill it out as a sponsored event (a form can be downloaded from the DSN website).
Erica added, “Using their exercise time outside of the gym during curfew is a simple and effective way to get well while raising money for charity. The funds will be used to support projects for deaf and / or blind people in the region, which are now more urgently needed than ever. “
