West Cheshire League Summary | Wirral Globe

After winning promotion to Division One of the MSC Express West Cheshire League, Heswall turned his attention to the Wirral FA Senior Cup.

They reached a semi-final showdown with Division 1 runner-up Mersey Royal after dwarfing Neston Nomads 5-1, inspired by a hat trick by Joe Ford. Matty Morris and Paul Lindfield also found the net, and the young Ollie Dutton hit the target for nomads.

Congratulations and best wishes to Martin Rymans South Liverpool, who has been crowned Division One Champion for the fourth time and has now secured promotion to Division One North in the North West Counties.

Mossley Hill Ath. finished Division 1 with a respectable third place on goal difference but ended the season on a silver lining after Owen Cassidy scored the only goal of the game in a highly competitive Pyke Cup final win over Marshalls.

The fairytale ending continued over the weekend when Mossley’s reserve side – thanks to a nice double from Adil Mohammed – lifted the Haworth & Gallagher Bowl after beating Litherland Remyca Dev. 2-1.

The Ltherland youth team did better. Lucas Smith (2) and Ethan Highton scored the goals in a 3-2 win over South Liverpool in the youth record final.

In Division One, Ellesmere Port Town improved its chances of survival after a 2-2 draw with Redgate Rovers and Mossley Hill Ath. But only winning their last game against Newton can help them avoid the fall.

A pair from Ben Coward was complemented by further efforts from Rob Owen and Matty Petts as Chester Nomads triumphed 4-1 at Maghull, finishing eighth, while tenth local rivals Upton AA surrendered by Tom Killilea, Joe Ormrod and Lee Guiardo 4-3 before replies from Vauxhall Motors Res. ‘Andy Roberts (2) Jamie Eaton and Louis Gorman.

Runcorn Sports and Helsby are promoted from the third division and Helsby wins against West Kirby Res. In their final fight they will rise as champions.

The efforts of Brad O’Donnell, Liam Brennan, Tom Rouker, and Paul Butler as Sutton Ath sufficed. won 4-1 at Poulton Royal Res. Greg Sandalls was spot on for the hosts.

A 7-1 win at Bootle confirmed Runcorn Linnets as champion of the youth division with Mossley Hill Ath. Due to the goal difference, he finished second after the efforts of Ishy Asgaard and Alfie Saunders anchored their side to a 2-1 result against Vauxhall Motors, which Connor Kelly responded.

Maghull had Harry Forsyth on target, but the points were split after Marshalls Barkihill collected through Ethan Owens.
