Cheshire: Shopping center gets new foodhall

A brand new food hall is coming to a shopping center in Cheshire and will create 30 new jobs in the process.

The team behind popular independent food and retail stores General Store and Stretford Foodhall have announced that the new venue, the first outside the Manchester area, will be on Barons Quay in Northwich.

The Foodhall concept, which is home to an ever-changing list of independent street food vendors, has already proven very popular in Stretford and is now being rolled out in Cheshire, with another set to open on sale.

Northwich Foodhall opens in the fall and opens in a two-story unit in the city center, formerly Baron’s Quay Social. The 9,000 square meter unit also has a rooftop terrace where customers can dine al fresco when the weather is nice, with space for additional dealers.

Both colorful new units will offer rooms for changing indie food vendors, bars serving local craft beer, wine and spirits, a café with a bakery and the “corner shop” typical of the general store.

The flexible spaces will encourage a variety of uses for the local community, from pop-up retail space to informal classes – welcoming locals from morning to night.

The grocery store at each location will offer the same great innovative neighborhood retail concept that the brand became famous for.

In addition to supporting local manufacturers of everything from food and beverages to housewares, the store will be a destination for artisanal alcohol, as well as local fresh baked goods and waste-free refill stations for the household.

The Store Group is a advocate for independent businesses and is asking manufacturers and creatives in Northwich to contact their teams at trading@store-group.co.uk if they have a product they think should be in stock , or if you are interested in becoming a grocer in one of the new locations. The Northwich team is also looking for a florist or pot maker to sell their wares in a designated sales area at the new location.

Mital Morar, Founder of Store Retail Group, said: “This is a really exciting moment for us as we are announcing our second and third Foodhall.

“It took a long time as we, like everyone, fought Covid last year, so we are very happy that the plan is now taking shape.

“We have made Sale our home for the past eighteen months, and as we expand and root the city even more deeply, we look forward to celebrating an exciting new chapter with the community.

“Northwich is a really exciting location for us too, the first step out of Manchester is a big thing for our brand and we look forward to the challenge.

“The location is very important to us – we want to be able to build our own community in Northwich.

“People challenged us when we selected Stretford for our first Foodhall, but it turned out to be incredible for both our brand and the locals.

“Our venues are not just places to get food and drink, but also communal spaces that involve the people who live and work in their area.

“We want to revitalize our city centers, create spaces that encourage local traders and make everyone feel welcome.”

The Store Group just opened its newest general store in MediaCityUK and has since announced new retail locations in Deansgate Square and Kampus in downtown Manchester, bringing the total to five new product launches for the group this year, with more exciting plans.

The new Northwich Foodhall will also create around thirty new local jobs. The Store Group invites all talented and enthusiastic individuals interested in a new position to contact us via the store-group.co.uk/careers website.
