Latchford salon are nominated for prestigious Cheshire award

SALON owners came out of a ‘crazy few years’ on top after being named ‘best hair stylists in Cheshire’ at prestigious awards.

Mike Houghton and Chris Whitfield, owners of Beehive Hair Salon in Latchford, were full of anticipation when they attended the black-tie event on Sunday, September 18.

Mike said: “After a crazy few years of setting up a new business, surviving pandemics and lockdowns it was an absolute honor to be nominated and then to become regional finalists in the ‘Englands Business Awards 2022’.

“We were so full of excitement, happiness, and nerves when we arrived. We just felt so blessed to be recognized as a worthy business and to even be there surrounded by other business owners.”

The awards ceremony was hosted at the MacDonald hotel, on London Road in Manchester, and is held annually to recognize businesses across the country who have been nominated for their stand-out service by a member of the public.

Mike 32, from Latchford and partner Chris, 31 from Great Sankey have worked in hairdressing for more than 14 years in different salons around Warrington.

The name of the salon ‘Beehive’ Mike explained was a play on words to pay homage to the Manchester Bee, after the couple were sadly in attendance of the traumatic Manchester Arena bombings back in 2017.

“I think the events of the arena attack made us realize that we could make a difference to others and that is exactly what we’ve done,” Mike said.

The salon, located on Westy Lane, not only includes Mike and Chris, the two stylists, but also is home to an ‘amazing’ glam team made up of two make up artists and a nail technician.

The talented hair stylists said Beehive is ran on a ‘no judgment’ policy and opens its doors to ‘everyone and anyone’.

Mike said: “The best part of the job is being able to make a difference to our clients. Not only with how they look but with how they feel as well.”

The couple said how they were on ‘cloud nine’ when they received the fantastic news that the salon had won its first award.

They said: “We are truly grateful for all of the love and continued support we have received from our clients, family and friends. The only way is up for us, and we are excited for the national finals in November.”
